Stourbridge Squash Open 2024

As you will all be aware, last year we hosted the Wye Valley Brewery Stourbridge Open 2023, and it was a great success! Last year’s tournament attracted Wye Valley Brewery as the main sponsor and duly the full tournament name was ‘Wye Valley Brewery Stourbridge Open 2023’. The 2023 event was a huge success, held in early October and attracted over 100 squash players of varying standards. The professional competition allowed for 18 UK-based athletes from around the country to compete for the title, including the runner up of the recently held British Junior Open Jonah Bryant (World Ranked 111th, see attached photo of Jonah being presented the trophy). Jonah has recently been listed as a nominee for Sport Aid’s One To Watch Award previously won by Tom Daly!

So pleased were they with the competition, the Professional Squash Association made immediate contact after the conclusion of the 2023 event to start arrangements for the 2024 tournament and Stourbridge Squash Club/myself as tournament organiser, we are endeavouring to make the 2024 event BIGGER and BETTER! To achieve bigger and better, the tournament is being upgraded from a PSA Challenger $3K to a PSA Challenger $6K competition! This however does come with needing to raise more money through sponsorship and we are asking our wonderful membership if they would be interested in helping to sponsor the event along with the lovely Aubrey Grosvenor (Security Link Services) and Simon Beresford (DigitalOffice). There are a variety of sponsorship levels/opportunities available, this upgrade of the tournament will attract stronger, higher ranked players from both the UK and internationally, whilst also increasing the main event entries up to 24-28 professional athletes!

We are looking for a main sponsor of the event and in return main sponsorship will include:

Tournament Naming Rights – ‘The <insert company name> Stourbridge Open 2024’ – This will be displayed on all tournament related advertising materials both physical and electronic and will also be prominent within the club on the day of the tournament as well as featuring front and back on all tournament shirts (Last year’s top, promo poster both attached)
Vinyl court stickers (placed at the bottom of the front wall or tin) on main show court (glass back auditorium with seating capacity for 140) and subsidiary court, not just for the duration of the tournament, but also for the entire 12 month period after (A photo of the show court vinyl is attached). The club uses this court for bi-annual exhibition matches attracting full capacity of spectators, England Squash tournaments, annual singles and doubles club finals in Squash and Racketball, weekly Warwickshire and Worcestershire team matches along with general use by club members and junior coaching, Worcester Squash also use it for their Annual Cup Competition and the Senior and Junior County Championships.
Live streaming of the show court during the tournament on the club’s Facebook site as well as on YouTube (via PSA Live Streaming site) with prominent display of the sponsors vinyl stickers. An example of the YouTube live stream can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/live/n291EKKhB_Q?si=Lq4DQg5r3e13mJrF this was a tournament of the same grade held in Sutton Coldfield last year which attracted almost 4,000 views! Attached is a summary of Squash’s social media reach. The company logo will be seen on the live stream and future videos of the competition.
Coaching sessions with professional players on the day of and at later dates with a England Squash qualified Level 1 Coach.
Any other promotional requests or ideas you may have would be welcomed too, banners, stands etc.

In addition to the above, a Graded Competition runs in parallel with the PSA event which brings together players from around the country but more so from our surrounding counties of Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. This provides opportunities to players of all standards, not only to participate but also to watch professional standard squash. Your company’s branding would be visible to all.

A world ranked top 100 player has already provisionally entered the competition. Like last year the finals are scheduled to take place on the Sunday afternoon, which as a main sponsor would be great for you to attend should you wish to and potentially be involved in the award presentation ceremony.

To benefit from the above fantastic marketing opportunity, both during the tournament and for the 12 months after, we are only asking the main sponsor of the event to provide £5000. It would be great if you would be able to sponsor the event and in doing so help to promote ‘the healthiest sport’ that we all know and love, and newest Olympic sport which is only going to increase participation and interest. If there are any questions please don’t hesitate to discuss with myself by email (stuart.lord@kier.co.uk) or via telephone on 07449965723. Please let me know your thoughts, I hope we can come to some form of arrangement, even if the full amount is not achievable as previously mentioned there are a number of smaller sponsorship ideas ranging from £500 to £5000 available that I would love to discuss further should you be interested.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Stu Lord
