Hi all,
Just a few tennis updates to keep everyone up to date.
Club Championships- save the date! Finals weekend will be on the 19th/20th July 2025. Hopefully this gives everyone lots of notice! If you are planning to play, please don’t forget that you need to be available on finals weekend to play, and also in the weeks running up to finals weekend, to fit all your matches in!
Court lights- most of the broken lights have been replaced, just waiting on court 1, which is a little more complex to replace
Friendly reminder to all, the bar staff do not have permission to turn lights on for you. If you have misplaced your lights key, there are keys to purchase for £5 behind the bar, or at reception.
Clay courts- Gentle reminder for members playing on the clay courts- we still need to be changing footwear or using the blue shoe covers afterwards. Can you also please encourage your playing partners to do the same.
Court etiquette- another polite reminder, which I know most of you know, please refrain from walking behind any court when there is a point in play. If parents could pass the message on to the juniors too, that would be really helpful.
Update on court bookings-
Double court bookings- we are glad to see that most members are being reasonable with their court bookings, and the rule against double court bookings is only being ignored by a small minority. These bookings are continuing to be cancelled.
Team players- The bye-laws state that team players cannot book courts on the same night as their respective practice. This is because team players have access to 20+ hours a week of protected court time, so in the interest of fairness, are not permitted to book further courts on those evenings.
We are taking comments into consideration and are trialling a new system within the teams at the moment.
