Hi [[firstname]]
Welcome to the changed evening and weekend singles racketball league.
Please join me in welcoming those members who have joined the league in the all new Premier Division!
It is the introduction of the premier division with 7 players and the need to give them time to get their matches completed which has led to the (maybe temporary) introduction of more divisions with 6 players and circa 8 weeks to play your matches. It’ll probably all change again as we strive to make the new format a success. Please bear with and feel free to share your thoughts and ideas going forward.
If you wish to know more, please read on below, otherwise, good luck in this session
Regards
Ian

Premier Division (PD)
Initial division with 7 players ranked in surname alphabetical order (no other reason!)
Rules: same as the rest of the league EXCEPT, blue ball is default, black can be used with the agreement of BOTH players.
Scoring: Match is best of 5 games to 11, 2 clear in all games
Results: please post on the notice board which will be updated and posted on club screens.
Promotion: two down to div 1, two up from Div 1
Matches: in order that we can publicise planned matches as much as possible, I have prebooked a number of slots on The Roy Bradley Court which will be forwarded to you. I’ll also pin this on the notice board, please either randomly (or selectively) enter your name on the dates you can make and wait for your opponents to nominate themselves to make the match or agree a date with an opponent and book the court. There will be 21 matches to play and I have booked 15 courts so a few matches will have to played at other times, please sort this as appropriate. We’ll do our best to transfer bookings made on the notice board to MyCourts so that members can see on-line who is playing when.
The prebooked courts will be updated and displayed on the screens around the club as will the Premier Division itself: a number of members have expressed a desire to come and watch/applaud/heckle as appropriate.
We are also in the process of installing internet connection into Court 5 and plan eventually to stream matches into the club and the big world wide web.
Other : Considering a ‘limited edition’ SLTSC Premier Division shirt; suitably printed in a gaudy colour with (nick)names on. Good idea?? Would you be prepared to make a contribution towards the cost of this ‘trophy shirt’?
How about keeping a running total of PD points scored each session so that at the end of the year (whenever that might be) we can have a play-off series to crown a Premier Division ‘victor ludorum’ for the year??
I don’t have all the ideas or the answers, need your continued input please to make this a real success story for the club.
So far, so good.
Thank you.
Ian
