A Night With The Board

Dear Member,

As you know we have “A Night with the Board” coming up next week and in advance of that I wanted to share with you some thoughts about the evening and the possible projects that we could look to advance with the kind receipt of the funds from Roger Guest’s Will.

Firstly, this isn’t an EGM and is designed to be a relaxed forum for all to share views and ideas about what we believe is the right use of these funds. I think that initially our Chairman John Bartlett and I will talk generally about the possible projects that as a Board we believe the funds could be used for, but also it is really important that we hear back from members about other potential projects that they believe are important and maybe some that we may have missed.

I think that it’s also important to think about what we feel is a proper legacy from the funds. We are fortunate that we do generate cash on an annual basis that allows us to make regular updates to areas of the club that need maintenance/refurbishment. I don’t personally believe that this money should be used purely for normal maintenance.

So in advance of this meeting we wanted to share some of the ideas that the Board have identified as projects that we feel are worth considering. These have not been fully costed at this stage, but are as follows:
• A studio for pilates/dance/yoga – which would produce additional revenue/members
• Solar Panels allowing the club to become more energy efficient
• Upgrade the Tennis Court Floodlighting to LED – again saving the club significantly on energy bills
• A cover for some Tennis Courts – allowing for winter play
• Upgrade and refurbishment of the clubroom – including a full overhaul and upgrade to all furniture

These are a few of the obvious options for us to review and hopefully your feedback next week will also provide the Board with confirmation of our thoughts or other areas that may come up in conversation. If you are unable to make the evening, but would like to make a suggestion about the use of the funds, please email Luke in the office by 6pm on Monday the 11th May.

We are a member’s club and your opinions and insights are important to help shape the future development and enhancement of the facilities that we wish to continually improve upon.

We look forward to seeing you 7pm Tuesday 12th May

Kind Regards

Paul Barnsley
Treasurer
