SLTSC Club Open Day & Padel Grand Opening

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you’re all well and managing to squeeze in some sport between the showers. I think the Squash & Racketball players have been laughing at us Tennis players all winter!

I’m delighted to invite you to our Club Open Day on Saturday 2nd May (10am–5pm ish) — a fantastic day of free activities, special guests, and celebrations for all ages.

We’re making fantastic progress with our brand-new Padel courts, and at 3pm we’ll be holding the Official Grand Opening . Keep your eyes peeled… we may even have a special guest or two joining us!

We’re also thrilled to be working with Danny Sapsford (former Wimbledon 3rd Round player and 1988 Men’s National Singles Champion), who will be delivering tennis coaching sessions throughout the day alongside another exciting former Wimbledon/Davis Cup player. Full booking details will follow in due course. There will also be a special exhibition match featuring both players — plus a few familiar SLTSC faces.

Across the day, we’ll be running free sessions in Padel, Tennis, Racketball, Squash, Pickleball and Gym (my head is spinning just thinking about it!) giving everyone the chance to try something new and enjoy the facilities. Experienced players will be on hand to help, and equipment will be available to borrow.

We’re pleased to welcome County Sports Hagley for a pop-up shop — perfect if you’ve been eyeing up a new Padel racket or some fresh kit — and Chef Luke will be firing up the BBQ. We’ll also be hosting a range of fun fundraising activities in support of Black Country Women’s Aid.

We can’t wait to welcome you, along with your friends and family, for what promises to be a brilliant day of sport, celebration, and community spirit. Please help us spread the word and come along to support the club.

And to add a little friendly competition — there’s a chilled bottle of champagne from me for the member who brings the most guests!

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,

Annabel Goodby
Vice-Chair
