Good afternoon, Members.
I hope you all are well and had a lovely Christmas and new year.
Though the numbers were slightly down NYE it was a wonderful evening and was lovely to welcome in 2024 with all who attended.
This January has thus far been quiet on the function front. This is just how it goes sometimes; we are either inundated with parties or have a quiet spell. This is why we have decided to put on a January blues quiz and karaoke night so come on down and join in!!
That being said, there is a notice for our lovely Saturday regulars. On Saturday the 27th of January, we have booked out our Main clubroom and the back lounge for a wedding party. This is an all-day event and will mean the club rooms cannot be accessed from 9am-Midnight.
The recommendation is a friend of our board and it's a very short notice wedding. We don't do this very often, so I apologise for any inconvenience, and there is a much higher charge on the room hire for the club to cover losses of regular income.
Members will have access to bar facilities!!! via the bag room/Norton room all day and night and all other facilities are still open as usual.
This will be a profitable day for the club and will also help out a lovely couple under their circumstances.
Following this, February and March, this year I have decided not to put any functions over any of the England Six nations games! The games usually gather a great following of our members and so I would much rather have us all watching the game in peace, and you not have to worry about being kicked out halfway through!
As most of you who attend know, there are a couple of members who like to bring a few snacks, cheese, samosas etc etc....
I personally think we should now invoke the rights of the pork pie club...(from my rugby club days)
The rules are simple:
- We will put out a table for you, and the plates, and should you wish to bring something to the table for all to share, fabulous!!
- If you try something off the table one game, make sure you buy something for the table next game!
Cheeses, pork pies, breads, pâté, anything delicious is welcome!
(please remember this is foodstuffs only, bringing your own drink is not permitted so don't try that one please!)
