Believe it or not it’s been a year since we organised the well-attended pickleball taster sessions but, for various reasons, little progress has been made to establish this fast-growing sport at the Club. Hilary Carter and I have therefore picked up the baton and are attempting to move things forward!
You may not be aware that there is already a pickleball court marked out on one of the junior practice tennis courts. Although the junior tennis courts are not currently bookable on My Courts, they are available for pickleball any time on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, plus Wednesday afternoons. You just need to lower the tennis net to 34” and you’re ready to play. Paddles and balls are also available behind the bar to borrow.
However, in the next few weeks, the plan is to mark out another two pickleball courts on the second junior tennis court and invest in some proper pickleball nets.
To rekindle interest, we will be running some regular mix-in sessions at the following times, and we hope you’ll be able to come along:
Tuesdays, 11:00am – 1:00pm
Sundays, 11:00am – 1:00pm
Until the additional two courts are available, we may need to restrict numbers so if you’d like to attend, please sign-up on the pickleball noticeboard in the bar.
