You will have received the Notice of a General Meeting which has been called to discuss the possible installation and financing of 2 padel courts.
The resolution for the General Meeting on the 23rd January is proposed to ask Members' approval for the proposed expenditure & borrowing of funds towards the building of 2 padel tennis courts as without this, the project cannot move forward.
Further details will be sent to all Members shortly, in the hope that this will give sufficient information to help you understand the project as a whole.
I wish to reassure Members that if the Padel project moves forward we will remain a Members only Club. We will offer a temporary membership to potential new members that allows them to try Padel and they will have the opportunity to join after a maximum of 6 visits in the same way any member of the public would do now. In this way we envisage that we will attract a number of new members to the club who can integrate to all of our racket sport if they so wish.
Rackets and balls for hire will be available to Members to try Padel and introductory courses will be available.
Existing full racket members would have Padel included (as tennis, squash, racketball is now).
The current racket membership numbers enables good opportunities to be able to book a court in peak time on a weekly basis. This will be monitored and it is hoped that people will play at off peak times, daytime and weekends when currently the Club is very quiet.
