TORQUAY TENNIS TRIP 2024
It’s that time of year again for our highly successful Torquay tennis tournament.
As a whole the trip has been a success on many different levels; the social aspect of a group environment and meeting players from other counties, training whilst there with coaches and other players, receiving coach feedback after matches, teaching yourself to be independent during a tennis tournament with managing your warm up times, eating routines and preparation for matches. And because the bed and breakfast is walking distance to the tennis club, town, beach and leisure facilities there is a lot for the children to do under the supervision of the coaches.
A typical day involves waking up for breakfast, then going to training before the match day starts, followed by matches, and on the evening we go out for food and have group discussions about the overall performances of the players on the day. We try to always do a bbq on the beach during the week and find time for the players to go to the fair, crazy golf, bowling and other facilities Torquay has to offer. In between matches we expect the players to rest or support the rest of the team, the courts are very busy during the day so if we have any players having a long rest we may get them to do some match charting, physical exercises, or even rest as the week can be very tiring.
