Balcony Update

A big thank you to all members over the past weeks whilst essential works have been carried out to the balcony. I am pleased to inform you that all repairs and waterproofing have now been completed and access to the balcony will be open from Monday, 4th March.

It has become apparent over the last few weeks how much sand is transferred from tennis shoes when leaving the clay courts. The sand is being transferred into the Club room, changing rooms and onto other court surfaces. With the amount of work and money which has been spent on the balcony repairs and waterproofing, it is even more essential to ensure that sand does not transfer onto the newly laid decking on the balcony and other areas of the Club.

It is essential that the sand issue is addressed so you are being asked to observe the requirements detailed below.

Although brushes have been provided in the past these are not effective for removing sand from the sole area of the tennis shoes so can all members who have played on the clay courts ideally change their shoes for a clean pair before proceeding up the exterior staircase on to the balcony. If a member has forgotten a clean pair of shoes to change into then removing and banging the two shoes together is an effective alternative option. Shoes covers will also be provided in a plastic storage box at the bottom of the exterior staircase and please feel free to keep a pair of shoes covers in your tennis bag for future use.

I cannot stress enough how much time and money has been spent on the essential balcony work and the need for members to observe the request to ensure that tennis shoes are cleaned or covered before walking on to the balcony and into the Club room, etc.

Thank you for your understanding.
